Iron-Core Racing is about to go off the chain. We’re bringing something exciting to Coeur d’Alene like never before, and all in the name of fun. We’re not talking your average 10K run exciting, either–though that’s great.

Description
The Yawp and Howl: Winter 5k for North Idaho High Schools
Run or walk. We don’t care which, but come “Sound your barbaric yawp over the rooftops of the world” (Walt Whitman) as you charge through the middle of a live medieval battlefield. Grow out that facial hair, stop shaving your legs, and dress for the occasion in your finest Barbarian garb. Its going to be some wild, quality fun for everyone. Costumes highly encouraged!
Be sure to register under the North Idaho School you’d like to run for, and $5.00 of your registration will go directly to that school.
Iron-Core Racing will also be donating an addition cash prize to the high school/schools whose male and/or female runner takes first place.
And be on the lookout for a special Groundhog Day prize.
THIS IS NOT A STUDENT ONLY EVENT. ANYONE CAN PARTICIPATE, AND HELP TO RAISE FUNDS FOR THEIR CHOSEN SCHOOL.
Sorry No Dogs. No Weapons (Sword, Battle Axes, and Daggers must stay at the Keep).
This event will not be canceled due to winter weather (some extreme exceptions may apply). Dress appropriately. Consider wearing YakTrax or the like. Course may be icy and/or covered in snow. Be prepared.
Event schedule and times
Start time is February 2, 2013, at 10am at the Coeur D’Alene City Park. The route will take you through the City park, out Rosenberry Dr. and onto the Centennial trail along the river. This is an out and back course.
Because this is only a 5k distance, there will be NO AID/WATER STATION along the course. Water/Aid Station will be at the Start/Finish line ONLY. First aid supplies will be at the Start/Finish line, and at the turn around point on the race course.

In-Person Registration Available at Packet Pick-up and Race Day until 9:30am.
"Got my CMRS shirt today!!! It rocks!!! Now I can strut my stuff and show the world what I did!"Aaron C.
"Your race was my favorite ever. Before running IRON-CORE I really didn't care for the races I did. I figured if you want to run, then go run. Don't need to pay or collect a shirt. However, your race was a lot of fun. Best terrain and it is the only shirt I wear from any race. It was a great time. Will look forward to Canfield Ultra. Thanks Brah"Paul
"Finally (mostly...) not sore as of today...that was a KILLER half, Toby--way harder than either Robie or Dry Creek halves down the Boise way (I've done both and they don't hold a candle...) Nice work!!"Aaron
